I am a qualified, professional counselling supervisor. I offer individual supervision to qualified counsellors and to counsellors in training I can work with you face to face in my therapy room on the Shropshire/Welsh border or online using Skype. I offer 60 or 90 minute sessions with regular frequency to enable you to meet the requirements of your agency and regulatory body.
The BACP guidelines suggest:
For qualified counsellors the minimum recommendation for supervision is 1.5 hours per month, this is to be increased as necessary (can you take all your client hours to supervision within that time frame? If not then the 1.5 hours would need to be increased as the counsellor sees necessary)
Guidelines for trainee counsellors:
- 1 hour of supervision for every 8 hours of client work
- Not less than an overall minimum of 1.5 hours per month
- Delivered not less than fortnightly
The above is only a recommendation from the BACP. It is also a continual requirement for their accreditation process.
If you are interested in accessing clinical supervision, then I suggest we talk in the first instance, to discuss your expectations of supervision and the supervisory relationship.
This meeting can lead to our making a reflective space that can be supportive, challenging and creative. I believe that supervision is an important part of taking care of oneself and having reflective space is an important part of that process. We will agree upon a formal arrangement for supervision the terms of this arrangement, which, for its duration, would include a requirement for us both to maintain ongoing Membership of the BACP or equivalent Professional Body and adherence to the Ethical Framework, the various codes of conduct and any recommendations that may be current and hold Professional Indemnity cover and current requirements for working with children &/or vulnerable adults.
I am transparent and responsive in my approach and my supervision is offered at the highest ethical standard in order to help keep you and your clients safe.
